Title: Acoustic wave propagation in multiscale lossy metamaterials.
Abstract: This talk discusses acoustic wave propagation in multiscale lossy metamaterials. The two-scale asymptotic method of homogenisation is used to derive the macroscopic equations that describe sound propagation through lossy metamaterials featuring multiscale porous media and acoustic resonators in their building-block elements. Particular attention is given to how inner resonances and diffusion processes affected by nanoscale phenomena can be of use to design efficient low-frequency sound absorbers.
