Emil Björnson, professor at KTH, is on Clarivate Highly Cited Researchers list 2023. His researcher group has contributed to the development of 'Massive MIMO', which is now a fundamental component of 5G. It involves using mobile phone masts with many small electrically steerable antennas. This makes it possible to send targeted signals to many mobile phones at the same time, instead of letting them take turns.
