Project by Emma Johansson and Mikaela Persson
Abstract Considering the prevailing climate crisis it is important to encourage discussion on the topic.
Keeping in mind that the EU has set a goal of becoming climate-neutral by 2050, we have
aimed to design an interaction that depicts a dystopian society where we have not been able
to do so. This was achieved by creating a sound map. The sound map refers to a physical
map of Stockholm where one hovers locations with a motion capture sensor in order to
explore different contrasting soundscapes. The soundscapes were made out of gathered
sounds and constructed in Audacity. This project was not focused on evaluating the
efficiency of the sound map, but rather the process of creating it. However, two tests were
conducted which indicated that the interaction has the ability to open up for a discussion
about climate change.
