Project by Okra Livia Inkeri Dimle and Sabina Nordell
Abstract This project investigates the possibility of making a
tactile paper map come to life with the use of physical
interaction and sound. In the created prototype, users are
able to explore the future soundscape of a crossway in
Stockholm. By moving a marker above it, connected to a
motion capture system, it is possible to listen to the
different locations on a map. Two markers were used,
where the first marker plays sounds from the present time
and the second marker from a possible future. These
sounds are together meant to represent a regular day for a
student at The Royal Institute of Technology in
Stockholm, as this is the chosen location of the map. It
was found that the mocap-system was a good way to
place sound in a physical space and create different
environments.
